This course focuses on the primary responsibilities of running a successful contracting business according to the rules and regulations surrounding the industry.

​This five-hour course concentrates on topics important to the everyday running of a successful construction business. The principles of contract law and the important elements of a home building and remodeling contract are important for any industry professional. A thorough understanding of lien laws, business and financial practices, and especially labor related rules and requirements is a critical component of running a profitable organization.

Learning objectives are provided to facilitate student understanding and progress. State-required chapter assessments measure understanding of the material. Students must answer 70% of the questions correctly in order to receive credit/certification for the course.

  • Construction Lien Law (45 minutes)
  • Business and Financial Practices (45 minutes)
